Meet The Director of First Notes

"My son, Sammy, loves Ms. Marzena and her music class! Ms. Marzena is an amazing teacher. She sings and plays such beautiful songs that teach not only Sammy, but our whole family a different way of appreciating music. She is so wonderful and kind with all the children, and very understanding. Attending her class is the highlight of our week. This is an incredible program! We couldn't be happier with our experience and would highly recommend it!" - P

"My 2 yr. old grandson and I have been attending clases at First Notes with Marzena for over a year. When Marzena begins to sing and strum her guitar, my grandson's eyes light up and he runs to get as close as he can to hear her melodic voice and lilting guitar. Every child in the class gets individual, one on one attention. Marzena addresses each child by name in various delightful songs. Both parents, grandparents, and children feel as if they are a "musical family"! The creative instruments and wonderful literature read on her fuzzy blanket enrich this "musical family" socially, emotionally and musically!!! Bravo! Bravo@ to Marzena and First Notes for bringing the joy of music to children and their families!!! Sincerely, The 'C' Family"

"Maia was born with physical special needs and was 3 months old when we started with Marzena. As I write this letter, she is 10 years old now and is a multiple instrument musician. Even though her left arm is mostly paralyzed, she plays piano, cello, drums, glockenspiel and recorder and fills her time playing in multiple youth orchestral opportunities and even in a rock band. Maia is also in the synagogue jr. choir, attends Marzena's Voice For Life classes and takes Tap and Jazz dance, too. Marzena brought music to Maia (and to our family) in such a large "juicy" way. I am positive that starting at such a tender age was the very thing that empowered Maia to rise above her disability and face life head-on with energy and spirit and excitement!. Yes, Kindermusik is a fantastic program... but you need a really special teacher to make it happen for the children and families, and Marzena's "got it!" We are forever grateful and indebted to Marzena. She's still Maia's teacher and will continue on (as far as we're concerned) forever!" - F&L

Marzena (Exner) Gulesserian is a trained and licensed Kindermusik and Musik Garten teacher.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from The Frederic Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland and is certified in both Early Childhood Education and as a Montessori teacher.

Marzena  is also the Director of the Children's Choir at Christ Church in Philadelphia, a member of the Pennsylvania Music Teacher's Association, a member of the Bucks County Piano Teacher's Association, a member of the Early Childhood Music & Movement Association,  and she sings with the symphonic choir, the Choral Arts Society of Philadelphia (http://www.choralarts.com).

Marzena has been teaching Kindermusik for the last fifteen years.  She considers working with young children to be the most enjoyable and rewarding experience of her entire career as both a teacher and a professional.  She believes the (scientifically supported) theory that all children are born with musical ability and introducing them to music earlier on in their life helps them with all aspects of their development.

Marzena loves both music and children and hopes to bring out the best in every one of her students.

Speak to Marzena personally by calling her at (215) 542-9683 or emailing her at marzenagul@gmail.com.
